Sorry for the delay in doing this. This book came to me in great condition and very fast.
I was intrigued by the story line. I would have enjoyed it more if there wasn't so much physical description during the private moments.
But that is just me.
This book was okay but it seemed to drag so slowly that I wanted to start skimming but I just don't let myself do that. For me, there were too many minute details filling the pages that did not hold my interest and maybe just a bit too much heartbreak.
Another great Shirl Henke book, again own this one in hard back and also purchased it for my kindle as well
This book I could not put down. It was fabulously written. I made you laugh , cry and just wish you could get to the end ... Brilliantly written
So far I've read about half of Shirl Henkes books, and loved every one of them. Some more than others, but every one of them are very good! I recommend you read her wonderful books!
Cass Clayton ,only heir to her father, Rufus Clayton, had worked hard in her father's freight business. At her father's death, she inherited the business, but with the stipulation that she would find a suitable man to wed, her husband would have control over the freight company and that a male child would be produced within 3 years of her father's death. Unable to break the stipulations of the will, Cass has her close friend and manager seek out a man, one who is about to be hanged, get him released by any means and bring him back for her to marry. She deduces that the man will have to agree to follow her terms or he would be returned to hang. She didn't figure on the man she chose, Steve Loring, a force to be reckoned with though. The story moves slowly at first but gradually picks up pace; it is fairly predictable in its course.
